Standing on an Old Stone Wall (Original, Signed and Framed)

I recently spent a couple of weeks visiting my brother, Paul in the Yorkshire Dales.  He's just moved to a beautiful village called Reeth.  I can highly recommend the place for those who love the countryside and walking in it. 

On one day during my visit we went for a long walk and as we ascended up toward Framington Edge we passed up a gorgeous pathway edged by two dry stone walls. The fields and copses here are surrounded by these walls, like veins across the landscape.  Half way up there was a hawthorn tree, jagged and full of white flowers.  I stood on top of the wall and took a quick sketch and a photo, the light was perfect, across the landscape and meadows strewn with buttercups. 

I felt extremely at ease during this walk, that is something to be grateful for and it is with that sentiment that I later painted this piece.
